Sri Lanka Celebrates 64th Independence Day

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Sri Lanka celebrated its 64th Independence Day with a variety of events on Saturday. The main celebrations took place in Anuradhpura, about 233 km from capital Colombo, where President Mahinda Rajapaksa led the official event.

Colombo district Independence celebrations

The Colombo district celebrations to mark Sri Lanka's 64th Independence Day will be held at the Colombo Town Hall grounds on February 4 at 8.30 am under the patronage of Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana, the Colombo's Mayor M J M Muzzamil and Colombo District Secretary H T Kamal Padmasiri will also be present.

All set for 64th Independence Day celebrations

All arrangements are in place to hold the 64th Independence Day celebrations themed "Let's make the nation the Wonder of Asia" at the Sri Sambudhdhathwa Jayanthi Mawatha in Anuradhapura on February 4, under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
